Grandfather Of Home Invader Killed by Homeowner’s Son Blames AR-15 For Deaths [VIDEO]

It’s a story that has seemingly captivated the nation. Twenty three year old Zachary Peters, who was at his parents’ home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, shot and killed three home invaders using an AR-15 rifle last week.

While many have agreed the case is clear cut self defense, the grandfather of one of the suspects is speaking out.

As of now, there are no charges being filed against Peters, who is believed to have acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Maxwell Cook, 19, Jacob Redfearn, 17, and Jaycob Woodruff, 16.

Police say that Rodriguez planned the burglary, drove the three men to the house, and waited outside to drive them away. Rodriguez is believed to have made deliveries to the house, and knew the homeowner by name.

Peters shot each of the burglars once in the chest. One of them managed to crawl more than 100 yards out of the house, and died on the driveway. Police have not said if Rodriguez watched her friend die there, and then abandoned him, or if she scarpered at the sound of the gunfire.

Though Peter’s shot placement was efficient at eliminating the threat, he has stated that he only intended to defend himself and hadn’t meant to kill anyone.

After the shooting, he retreated to his bedroom where he barricaded himself in before calling 911. He even tried to get medical attention for the suspects.

However, Redfearn’s grandfather believes Peters acted in a rash manner and doesn’t think he should opened fire on the would be home invaders.

“What these three boys did was stupid,” said Leroy Schumacher.

“They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die,” he continued.

Schumacher even went as far as to blame the disparity of force between the AR-15 Peters was armed with compared to the weapons the trio of suspects was armed with.

“Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life,” said Schumacher, “There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that.”
